Stay Close

This week, we’re in the midst of the largest civil rights movement in the world, all in the time of a pandemic.

It feels like Mother Earth is yelling at us. Peaceful protests around the world. #BlackoutTuesday on social media. Three lunar eclipses in one month (read here). It can sometimes feel like an extraordinary amount of chaos and upheaval, but when peaceful people and great minds come together, it can also be an amazing time for reflection, transformation, and unity. We have the opportunity for a world reset.

Re-imagine a new better. Work together to make the world significantly better than what we left behind pre-CoVid19. It’s truly time for a conscious comeback – in every aspect in our lives. We have to re-imagine how we interact with each other on this planet, and how we experience the planet together. We have to stay close – to the earth, to our communities, and to each other.

In some of the articles, I have in this week’s ezine, I’ve noted continued closures and staggered re-opening of countries around the world. I also have the latest publication from Virtuoso Life, and my friends there note: Travel may be on pause for now. Dreaming is not. This love letter to our favorite pastime is meant to remind you of all the joys a journey brings, whether you’re planning future getaways, out exploring the world, or remembering adventures past.

Travel and tourism make up 10% of the world’s jobs, so any economic recovery has to involve travel.

And part of a conscious comeback in the world of travel is to focus on how we can stay close as well – to the earth, to our communities, and to each other.

Stay close – travel responsibly.

Stay close – travel in your own community.

Stay close – travel to connect with each other.

So, while we wait for the world to start re-moving, and we talk to our neighbours and connect in our communities, let’s think about re-starting our own travel by exploring our backyard.

Travel around your city. Shop locally. Support small businesses.

Travel around your own community. Travel around your own province/ state. Travel around your neighbouring provinces/ states. Travel around your country.

Travel to connect and learn more about your neck of the woods.

It’s fortuitous that my travel partners at Fairmont Canada has just started a “Stay Close” promo. It’s an incredible opportunity to see and stay at some wonderful  hotels around Canada (and the US for my American clients – as the Canada/ US border remains closed right now).

Fairmont’s “Stay Close” promo – they are giving 2nd night free at multiple hotels, and often not just for 2020, but into 2021 for many properties. The booking window changes with hotels (for some it is book before June 15, 2020) – for some, you can travel well into next year. You only need to pay one night deposit – and it is fully-refundable!

The perfect view. The perfect meal. The perfect company. It’s all closer than imagined because exclusive getaways are just down the road. And right now, every second night is on us.

That means you’ll receive one complimentary night for every night’s stay until the end of 2020

The terms and conditions, and the dates differ by property. So, let me know if you’d like me to check out something for you. But here’s an example of Banff:

Buy one night and receive a complimentary second night during the same stay. A 1 night prepaid fully-refundable deposit is required. This promotion is subject to availability and may not be combined with any other offers, promotions or packages. For stays through December 31, 2020. Blackout dates may apply.

*You may also use your complimentary night as a second room on the same night. Should you wish to do so, please book a two night stay and then you must call the hotel directly to amend the reservation. The reservation will be amended to have two rooms in the same room category for the price of one for one night.

Let me know if you’d like to Stay Close!
