#1 Is seasickness a concern?
Do you get sea sick?
Have you not cruised before, and worry about it? Then, maybe river cruising is for you!
Here’s a page from my guide, which I’ve summarized below.
Here are things to consider:
River cruise ships always see the shoreline.
- You experience no tides, no waves, no rocking.
- There is very little motion, so you feel safe & no seasickness.
- Inland waterways are much calmer than oceans.
- Typically, you experience very quiet motoring.
- River ships flow smoothly with ebb and flow of river.
Ocean cruises go on open water, and you will not see land often.
- You will experience much more motion than on a river.
- Crossing oceans will mean waves.
- Even with modern-stabilizers minimizing movement, you will feel motion.
- Many fear seasickness.
Do you think one would matter to you more? Or maybe you’d like to try both
