Some evenings remind you why you love what you do.
Last week, I had the privilege of celebrating my wonderful Lush Life Travel clients alongside the incredible AmaWaterways Team Canada at the beautiful Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club. The evening was all about saying thank you to past AmaWaterways guests, while learning about exciting new river cruises, new developments, and exclusive offers on the horizon.
I write often in this newsletter about the physical and cognitive benefits of travel — novelty, movement, stepping outside your routine. But wellness isn’t only what happens on the ship. It’s also what happens in a room like last night’s: surrounded by people who’ve shared a journey with you, laughing over shared memories, already talking about the next one.
Social connection is one of the most consistently protective factors for healthy aging that researchers point to — right alongside physical activity and mental stimulation. And one of the greatest joys of my career is that so many of my clients become genuine travel companions and friends. We’ve shared incredible journeys together, and we’ll soon be exploring Colombia this September, Egypt in November, and my hosted Festive Delights on the Rhine cruise next November.
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing Canadian AmaWaterways team who hosted us: Sandra Gardiner, Neil Dudley (my wonderful Ontario BDM and our emcee), Teri Recunyk, Mathieu Robert, Fatima Da Silva, Meline Hakobyan, and Shellyann Forrest. (We missed you, Mia!)
And thank you to Debra, Doris, Denise (who won our “Furthest Distance Travelled” prize, all the way from Port Hope!), Fenton & Jennie (travelling from Kingston), Jason & Valerie, Glenda, Nathalie, and Bill for making it such a memorable evening.
Looking around the room, surrounded by friends in the beautiful Ottawa sunshine, I couldn’t help but hope that next year’s loyalty celebration will include even more of my clients.
