Hello, hello!
The world is opening up. Can you feel it?
There’s a new optimism in the air. It comes with vaccines finally coming to Canada (my Mom got her first shot last night in Newfoundland). Of course, the spring weather and warmer air certainly helps. But – overall, it finally feels that the hope has a timeline. Sure, we still have to be cautious during this latest round of variants, but, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. And, as one of my travel colleagues put it, this time it doesn’t feel like the light from an oncoming train!
I’m still rebooking and cancelling holidays. Last week, I was still rebooking and cancelling holidays because of CoVid with at least one rebooked and/or cancelled holiday every day. One day, I worked on moving holidays for five different clients! (And one poor client’s planned holiday has now been rebooked four different times! ugh) . I’m still dealing with air re-ticketing, vouchers, etc. from travel affected by CoVid – and generally working as a volunteer to protect my clients. (Although, I can no longer waive service fees as I have in the past.) I really do value you as my client, and the fiduciary responsibility I take on to protect your financial investment in bucket list trips – not to mention safeguarding your lifetime of memories. Travel is my passion.
But happily – oh so happy, I’m almost giddy – this week, the new holidays being queried and then being booked are outnumbering the rebooked and cancelled. I’m thrilled that clients like you are starting to let off some of the pent up pressure of wanting to travel. I’m working with many clients to get trips planned and on the books. And while we’re looking at 2022 and 2023 travel (no one is really travelling in 2021 just yet – but – hello domestic travel is on the cusp of exploding), at least we’re starting to book.
Did you see the recent WTTC report? https://wttc.org/News-Article/Global-TandT-sector-suffered-a-loss-of-almost-US4-trillion-in-2020
WTTC research reveals global Travel & Tourism sector suffered a loss of almost US$4.5 trillion in 2020 due to the impact of COVID-19
Until travel returns, there will be no economic recovery.
So – what are you doing to get your bucket list trip on the books?
How about Antarctica? Yes, it’s a big, scary, idea of a trip – exotic, wonderful, and life-changing. Haven’t you ever wanted to walk on the 7th continent? I know I have. And now I’m going – February 2022 with Quark Expeditions.
Want to join me?
I hosted a webinar with Cara Matthew of Quark this past Tuesday. Give this a watch.
As you know, the 2020/ 2021 season was cancelled – and that put enormous pressure on the remaining 2021/2022 season for re-accommodating suspended passengers who had planned on going to Antarctica in 2020/2021 with Quark. Most people who plan a bucket list trip really want to go. So, when that trip was suspended because of the virus, they immediately rebooked. Which meant there was already limited supply with great demand for the 2021/2022 season. Add that to the pent up demand for people generally not travelling in 2020/ 2021, and the “wasted” travel year, we have folks wanting to make every trip count. And – bucket list trips are at the forefront. So, when we can travel again, people want to do a big one.
That’s where my group comes in. Antarctica!
I have the LAST REMAINING cabins on this Quark Expeditions “Crossing the Circle” trip for February 22, 2022. I have 7 cabins left, that people who are not my clients are clamoring to get – so – Quark is asking me to release the space to deal with the demand. Of course, once it’s released, the rate will be at the prevailing market rates. Which means – you’ll pay a heck of a lot more than you’d pay if you book to go with me, as part of my negotiated group space.
This is great pricing, with a reduced deposit. But – I only have the space for this week.
Let me know if you’d like to go!
