Today, I’m honoured to have my new Vision 2000 colleague, Brenda Farrell, write a guest blog about the foodie tour she has designed and is personally escorting to Portugal this April. Have a read of Brenda’s intro to the glories of slow food. And please contact her if you want to join her on the tour – only 5 spots remain!

Some years back I started and ran Slow Food Lions Gate in Vancouver. Alas, at the time there was little inclination for North Shore residents to get on board and as a result, while I enjoyed working on the events we successfully organized, the model was not sustainable in that region.
Personally, I still live and practice the Slow Food lifestyle. However, these days, I specialize in advising, planning and executing Lifestyle Travel for discerning travellers. In essence, I orchestrate dreams so I wanted to let you know about a very special tour of Portugal that we are hosting in Spring 2012. I am hoping that you will make this information available to your email list and thank you warmly for your consideration.
Although our small-group tour is not food-related, per se, we will be visiting vineyards and tasting local foods as we travel. As you may know, Portugal is high on tradition when it comes to farming, so GMOs are not standard! We will spend one week on the mainland, visiting the Alentejo farm region as well as the wine-growing Douro – in addition to those beautiful baroque palaces, medieval castles and historic cathedrals, and will then fly to Madeira Island where all the foods are locally fished, raised, grown, produced and eaten! You will find an outline of the tour itinerary attached to this email.
We have 5 signed up and only need 5 more to make it go so please let me know if you need more information or if you would like to chat on the phone. I do have a more detailed itinerary for people who may be interested.
Warm and slow regards,
