Did you see the old John Candy and Steve Martin movie, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles?" It's a silly tale about getting across the country using any means necessary, but for someone to get back to his family. And in between the giggles, you see the 'drive' to be with family, and the fun ways to travel.
This week, I was fortunate enough to visit New Orleans on a last minute trip (more on that next week), but jumping on a plane and escaping Ottawa cold is always a lovely thing to do.
Planes, trains, and automobiles indeed. I flew to Louisiana, saw street cars and horse-drawn carriages, did a bus tour to the Whitney Museum, and more.
So, it makes sense to ask - where would you like to go today? If you could jump on a plane, train, or automobile and head to somewhere away from here, where would you go?
I'll feature some train trips this week - including a Rocky Mountaineer travel presentation coming up on Feb.10th at Ale - Amberwood Lounge and Eatery for a group trip in September, and we have a Explore Machu Picchu by scenic train (with one-day hike option) trip coming up in July.
Of course, I'm also working on getting folks away this week - everything from sun trips to Mexico and Dominican, expedition cruises to Greenland and the Amazon and the Northwest Passage, family river cruises to Europe, Med ruises, trips to Spain, trips to Ireland - and a couple of self-drive trips to Newfoundland and New Zealand.
So, if you could hop on a plane, train, or automobile this week, where would you like to go?
