Sable Island Cruise 2028: Wild Horses, Wild Shores—and an Invitation to Join Me
July 19–26, 2028 | Adventure Canada | Personally Hosted by Sheila Gallant-Halloran
Have you ever dreamed of seeing the wild horses of Sable Island?
Picture a windswept stretch of sand, rolling dunes and horses roaming freely, with the Atlantic stretching towards the horizon.
Sable Island National Park Reserve, off the coast of Nova Scotia, is one of Canada’s most extraordinary places. Its remoteness is part of its appeal—and visiting requires preparation, permission and the cooperation of the weather.
In July 2028, I’m hosting a Lush Life Travel group on Adventure Canada’s Sable Island expedition. I’d love you to join me.
When Is the Hosted Sable Island Cruise?
Our expedition, Sable Island: Wild Horses & Outpost Legacy, sails July 19–26, 2028, roundtrip from St. John’s, Newfoundland, aboard Ocean Nova.
The planned itinerary includes time at sea, several days dedicated to exploring Sable Island as conditions allow, and a visit to Saint-Pierre, the French island off Newfoundland’s southern coast.
It brings together wildlife, maritime history and two very different island experiences in one Atlantic journey.
Explore Adventure Canada’s itinerary and cabin details.
Why Visit Sable Island?
There’s something compelling about this isolated crescent of sand.
Its free-roaming horses are the best-known residents, but the island’s story also includes grey seals, shifting dunes, shipwrecks, lifesaving stations and the people who have studied and protected this remarkable environment.
For wildlife lovers, photographers and travellers interested in Canadian history, there is so much to be curious about.
What draws me is the opportunity to experience a place where nature determines the rhythm of the visit. You arrive ready to observe, learn and appreciate whatever the island allows you to discover.
What Is Ocean Nova Like?
Ocean Nova carries a maximum of 75 guests, making this an intimate expedition experience.
The emphasis is on exploration, learning and connection with your surroundings. Expect Zodiac outings when conditions permit, opportunities to learn from the expedition team, and conversations with fellow travellers who share your curiosity.
For our Lush Life Travel group, I’ve secured an initial allocation of eight cabins, including a limited solo cabin option.
That allocation is only part of the ship, and cabin choice matters. If you’re interested, let’s discuss the accommodation that suits you while options remain available.
Why Travel With My Hosted Group?
I love helping clients prepare for experiences that take them beyond the familiar.
My firsthand expedition travels include Antarctica, Newfoundland, Iceland and Québec’s winter ice. Those journeys have taught me how much the ship, expedition team, preparation and expectations shape the experience.
I’ll bring that perspective to our group, along with the pleasure of travelling together.
And because this journey begins and ends in Newfoundland, it has an extra personal connection for me. I’m from Corner Brook, and I always welcome an opportunity to share my love of my home province.
Can We Add Time in St. John’s Before the Cruise?
Yes—we’re exploring adding Adventure Canada’s four-day St. John’s pre-trip experience, July 16–19, 2028.
Arriving early would give us time to enjoy Newfoundland before embarking on our expedition.
The pre-trip program is operated by Adventure Canada and is an additional cost. Let me know if you’d like it included when we discuss your plans.
What Early Booking Savings Are Available?
Adventure Canada’s 10% Early Booking Bonus applies to the expedition berth fare.
The standard deadline is December 8, 2026, with an exclusive extension for my group through January 29, 2027, subject to the group booking conditions.
Eligible returning Adventure Canada guests may also qualify for loyalty savings. I’ll confirm the applicable offers, conditions and current cabin availability when preparing your quote.
Canadian-dollar pricing is available for Canadian residents.
Are Landings on Sable Island Guaranteed?
No. Weather and sea conditions determine whether—and where—we can land.
The itinerary allows several days around Sable Island, but no specific landing or wildlife encounter can be promised. Exploration takes place under the expedition team’s direction and applicable Parks Canada requirements.
That flexibility is an essential part of choosing this journey.
If your enjoyment depends on a guaranteed landing at a particular place or time, we should discuss that before you book. This expedition is best approached with curiosity and a willingness to let conditions shape the experience.
Is This the Right Expedition for You?
This could be a wonderful fit if you enjoy wildlife, photography, maritime history and exploring with a small group.
You should also be comfortable with the practical realities of expedition travel: Zodiac transfers, walking on sand and uneven ground, changing weather and an itinerary that may adapt.
When we speak, I’ll help you consider the cabin options, activity requirements and arrangements around the cruise so you can make an informed choice.
