Take a look at Corner Brook

Corner Brook on the west coast of Newfoundland is home to me. But rarely when we go home do we play tourist. We always get out on the water, and did again this visit (see earlier post). But this trip back, we took advantage of the other things there are to see and do around the city, and had my kids take a look at Corner Brook.

We paid homage to the “man in the mountain,” and toured the Steady Brook area, and the Humber River.

We visited the Marble Mountain ski hill area (best skiing east of Montreal), and home to the Humber Valley Resort (now coming out of receivorship, and being revamped by new owners.)

We visited the “Newfie Bullet” – a museum to the Newfoundland Railroad that stopped passenger travel in the late 60’s. and freight transport in the late 80’s.

We walked the three trails of the Corner Brook Stream – the Three Bear Trail

the Glynmill Pond Trail (and saw the swans)

and walked around the Corner Brook Gorge from City Hall to Glynmill

we drove to Cox’s Cove on the north arm of the Bay of Islands

and we watched many sunsets.
