With the start of the third unmissable series of Downton Abbey, my Virtuoso partners, A&K, have put together the perfect tour for all fans of the compelling period drama.
As well as a visit to Highclere Castle, the real-life Downton Abbey and the Oxfordshire village of Bampton, the location used for filming many of the village scenes in the drama, my partners A&K would like to take you on a journey through early 20th century British history, just as the popular television series continues to do.
Why not learn the art of English etiquette as you take part in an afternoon tea-making class, observe how fashions changed through the years at the Victoria and Albert Museum and be guided through some of the first motor-cars at Beaulieu Motor Museum?
Visit the grand estate of Blenheim Palace where, at the other end of the scale, you can meet a Duchess’s maid and learn about what life is really like as a servant in a palace.
Fans of the show will be delighted by the history and parallels they can draw with the Downton Abbey series and will come away with a memorable insight into what life was like for the Crawley family and their household staff.
